SITHGAM022 Provide responsible gambling services (RCG)

NSW Approved Training Provider - RSA/RCG 2022-2023

Summary

RCG training is mandatory in NSW if you want to work in any role where your duties involve gaming machines. Gaming machines are allowed in registered clubs and hotels and venue staff have additional responsibilities when operating gaming machines.

Depending on your duties you may also need Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) training. Austrain Academy is an approved provider of NSW RSA & RCG training on behalf of Liquor and Gaming NSW.

Additionally, the new voluntary Advanced Responsible Conduct of Gambling (ARCG) training is recommended for roles with greater gambling-related harm minimisation responsibilities, such as gambling floor managers and supervisors in hotels and clubs, hotel licensees and club secretaries.

This course is a minimum 6½ hour face to face classroom course that will prepare you for work in the hospitality industry. A NSW competency card can be obtained on successful completion and is valid for 5 years. You will need to successfully complete the NSW RCG Participant Workbook and the SITHGAM022 gap assessment during the face to face class, and an additional online assessment managed by L&GNSW in your own time. (See the details tab for further information).

The course fee includes the cost of the competency card.

You will also be issued with a National RCG Statement of Attainment (SITHGAM022), which may allow you to work in other states in Australia, depending on each state's requirements.

You must bring one of the following types of Photo ID to your course:

  • a driver or rider licence or permit issued by an Australian State or Territory or any foreign country
  • Australian or other passport
  • NSW photo card
  • proof of age card issued by a public authority of the Commonwealth or of another State or Territory for the purpose of attesting to a person's identity and age
  • Keypass (over-18) identity card issued by Australia Post

This course is for students new to the liquor industry or returning to a job requiring RCG competency after five years. If you hold an existing RSA &/or RCG Competency Card (not more than 28 days expired) you need to complete the Refresher course available from LGNSW.

If your card is expiring soon, you will be notified by email and SMS about how to renew and complete the online refresher training

If you have an RSA/RCG interim certificate issued within five years from the ‘Valid for duties date" you will need to attend a Service NSW branch with your ID as detailed on the certificate to gain a Competency card.
