The Food Safety Supervisor (FSS) Recertification course was developed by the NSW Food Authority for current FSS holders whose certificates will be expiring.
The certificates expire five years from the date of issue.
This means that your FSS may need to undertake refresher training with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) approved under the FSS program.
Austrain Academy is approved by the NSW Food Authority to provide this training.
You have 30 working days to ensure your appointed Food Safety Supervisor renews their training and obtains a new FSS certificate. Check the refresher renewal date on the certificate to determine when refresher training is due.
Recertification training may only be offered up to 90 days after the expiry date for a previous NSW FSS Certificate. After this time, the full course must be re-completed to attain certification.
See the NSW Food Authority for more information.
This course is offered by distance education (correspondence).
Note – if you would like the NSW Food Safety Certificate it is an additional $30. (This fee is subject to change by state regulators).
You will need to supply Austrain Academy with a copy of your previously attained FSS Certificate to be eligible for the recertification course.
Note - Students who are obtaining an FSS Certificate for the first time will need to complete the full FSS course.
In order to successfully complete this course, you will need access to an operational commercial food preparation area, bar or kitchen and a third party.
(The Third Party must be either the proprietor of the business or a person who understands the role of the Food Safety Supervisor and the business you work in. They must be prepared to complete the comment section of a workplace report and provide full contact details as outlined at the bottom of the report.)
You will also be required to complete a Temperature Control Record requiring two (2) weeks of temperature records for equipment in a commercial kitchen.
Self-paced correspondence delivery
* We recommend completing the course within 20 working days. (Please note - your booking will expire with no refund payable if you fail to complete the course within your 90 day expiry period from your previous NSW Food Safety Supervisor certificate expiry date. You may then transfer to the Full Course and an additional fee of $100.00 will be payable)
